Just Workout Everyday

Just do something intentional towards your fitness everyday for the rest of your life.

I write a lot.  I share a lot of thoughts, ideas and experiences.

But if I were to consolidate the entirety of this and just tattoo something on my forehead that summed up my thousands of hours of fitness experience it would just say,

“Workout everyday”.

What I would explain to anyone brave enough to ask me what I meant by getting that tattooed on my face, I’d say,

“I can’t think of anything in the world that you have direct control of, that will change your life more than just doing something intentional towards your fitness everyday.”

It’s just so obvious to me.  I don’t really know how else to say it plainly.

You will feel better.  You will look better.  You will live longer.  You will live better.  You will be more confident.  You will sleep better.  Everything will just be better.

And you don’t have to do anything crazy.  If you go for a 20 minute walk every day, you’ll check a lot of boxes.  If you add some weight to a backpack and/or go at a brisk pace, you’ll check even more.

Yeah, you’ll get more results if you do an hour of properly planned out strength and conditioning everyday, but that’s not an expectation or requirement.  It’s certainly a great ideal, but I think too many people get hung up on the details when all they need to do is get moving.

Walk, run, row, hike, lift weights, do yoga, dance, hula hoop, whatever gets you going.

That’s it.  You can cram in 10-20 minutes into every single day of your existence.

Is it always easy to get up off the couch and do it?  Nope.  But it’s always worth it.  I’ve never, ever left the gym or finished a workout and thought “well I really regret having done that.”

And just to reiterate, your days will be infinitely better in the long run if you do it now.

If you want something more specific, need advice on how to get going, or thoughts on what you’re doing now, just ask.

I’ll have time to answer while I’m getting my forehead tattoo.
