Make the Right (Left) Turn

Steve Sanchez, a long standing member of this gym family, has some great advice.

“The hardest decision of the day is when I come to the crossroads where I can either turn left and go to the gym.  Or I can turn right and go home.

As long as I make that left turn (which is the right one), I’m good.”

After that, it’s relatively easy.  If you make the correct turn, your path to success is laid out.

You finish the drive to the gym, park, change clothes, walk into class, follow the instructions from your coach, complete your workout, encourage some other people in their workouts, high five some people, head home, and you’re better than you were an hour before.

All in all, it represents about 6% of the entire 24 hours you’re allotted in a day.  (And if you’re like most people, it represents less time than your total screen time for the day does.)

That 6%, done 3-5 times a week will make your life better, longer and more enjoyable, guaranteed.

But it all comes down to that one decision.  Home or gym.

For you, it might be different.

It might be:

  • Sleep in or gym
  • Netflix or gym
  • Stay late at work or gym

But it all comes down to that one decision, every single day.

And in my opinion, after coaching people professionally for 12 years, that one decision that leads to you fitness-ing or not is the one that will dramatically impact your life the most.

Make the right (left) turn.
