She Spent 20 Years Trying to Shrink Her Body. Then She Started Trying to Build It

Jenn Markwardt grew up doing sports she didn’t love, developed an eating disorder in high school, and spent the next two decades using exercise as a tool to make her body smaller. She yo-yoed through the same 20 pounds over and over, took naps under her desk at lunch because she was too exhausted to function, and couldn’t keep up on hikes with her own family.

She also co-owns the gym and still couldn’t stay consistent — until she stopped trying to shrink and started trying to build.

This conversation goes deep on what it actually takes for women over 35 to change their bodies, why cardio alone stopped working, how to stop the all-or-nothing spiral, and what it means to finally feel strong in your own skin instead of just small.

If you’ve tried everything and nothing has stuck — this one’s for you.
