“I Thought It Was a Cult. Then My Back Forced Me to Try It.”

Nick Bandy spent years teasing his wife Susie for going to “the cult.” Then a chronic back injury — one that had been getting worse for over a decade — finally took away the skiing, the dirt bikes, and everything else he loved about living in North Idaho. He walked into SSC skeptical, in pain, and fully expecting it not to work.

That was eight years ago. Today he’s one of our coaches, running a youth program that’s changed hundreds of kids’ lives, and skiing harder than he ever has.

This conversation covers what it actually feels like to walk in when you don’t want to be there, why having an injury isn’t a reason to wait, and how finding a community of people with the same struggles changes everything.

If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll start when things feel better — this one’s for you.
