It’s about now that I get that same feeling I do on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the 30th of December and typically on the last days of vacation.
It’s the feeling that I really could use some more vegetables and quality sleep in my life.
The feeling that, while the time spent savoring the season was amazing, that it’s a damn good thing I don’t do this year round.
If you’re here in Sandpoint, you’ve undoubtedly had event after event, visitor after visitor, and lots of “yes”s to things you say “yes” to because you know you won’t get that chance in another month or two.
Plus, if you have kids, you’ve also been juggling the “how do I help them enjoy summer while I also try and keep my sh*t together?!” I mean, they are literally always around, right?!
Good news: Come next Tuesday, we start to shift into a more normal schedule and season.
Bad news: As of Tuesday, it’ll only be 87 days until Thanksgiving, when we start to shift once again into a season of more difficult routine.
The best news: The most successful people I know in health, wellness, fitness and life understand and embrace these undulating seasons of life.
When it’s time to play, they play. When it’s time to work, they work. They’re not psychopaths who eat dry turkey and kale on Thanksgiving, and they don’t crash diet come September 1st.
They confidently know that when one season ends, they start the next season.
No guilt, no shame, just life.
Here’s what that means for you:
If you’ve been a little less than perfect during the summer, great! Tuesday is your day. Don’t get on the scale, don’t lament how far you’ve let yourself go, just throw away all the hotdogs and ice cream, buy some meat and vegetables and plan your workouts for the week.
It’s that easy.
If you’re a member here at Sandpoint Strength, reach out to your coach (or me) and set an intention for the next 87 days so that when it comes down to the next season, you can confidently say that you spent routine season working so you can enjoy the holiday season that much more.
If you’re not a member here at Sandpoint Strength, what are you waiting for? The clock is ticking.
