You say you want to be in the best shape of your life. You say you want to look and feel like you used to. You say you want to identify as “fit”.
But you say you never stick to anything. You sign up for program after program. Gym after gym.
All of which, let’s be honest, you hate. It’s boring, hard, you don’t know if you’re doing it right, so you spend the whole time in your own head feeling frustrated and stupid.
You think that’s just part of the process and that someday it’ll get better.
You try and push through thinking this will be different. That you just need to get over the hump and you’ll like it like the rest of the weirdos you see online do.
Maybe if your coach just yelled at you more you’d be in the shape you want to be!
Wrong.
It should be fun!
You should laugh and play while you work. It doesn’t have to be that serious.
I put in a great workout yesterday afternoon, but I also laughed my ass off and had a great time.
That hour was, by far, the highlight of my day.
So stop trying so hard. Stop thinking you need someone to scream at you or to “kick your ass”.
Find a gym that makes it fun and makes you want to go back.
You’ll be surprised to see that the gym that has the most fun also has the people that are the most fit.
You know why?
Because those people like going to the gym. So they keep going, which is, ironically, the most important thing.
That’s how you get in the best shape of your life. That’s how you look and feel like you used to. That’s how you build the habit and identify as “fit”.
