I am Not a woman

I am not a woman.  


I won’t deal with the specific effects of aging as a female.  


So what I can’t do is try and relate to that experience.  I think that would be inappropriate and unfair.  

Jenn is always asked, “what’s it like to be a twin?” (she is).

She always replies, “what’s it like not to be a twin?”

Point being, we’ve all walked our own paths that provide us with our own very unique perspectives.

My path has not provided me the opportunity to specifically relate to the female journey.

What I do know is this:

  • After 40, due to a decline in estrogen, most women will experience:
    • Muscle loss
    • Bone density loss
    • Weight gain
    • Anxiety and depression
    • Poor sleep
    • Energy slumps
    • Loss of confidence and identity

While I can’t tell you what I’ve experienced personally, I can tell you what I’ve experienced in our gym as I’ve watched Coach Lisa House’s Lift and Thrive After 45 class over the last year.

  • I’ve seen
    • Women regain muscle mass with inbody results to prove it
    • Reversal of osteopenia and osteoporosis with doctors shocked at their progress
    • Weight loss and body fat loss
    • Laughter and community that tells me their mood is significantly elevated with their work in the gym

When I see the women in that room working out, laughing, gaining confidence and striding up to the gym with a smile on their face, actually looking forward to their workout, I still can’t speak to exactly what that positive shift they’re experiencing feels like, but I can be thrilled for the metamorphosis I’m witnessing.
