CFSP Member Spotlight: Austin Humble

What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

Well I had been working out for a few years on my own in local gyms and athletic clubs, and started working out here at the SWAC for a few months, but I just kept feeling like something was missing. I never left there feeling like I had gotten a sufficient workout. So then my brother told me about Crossfit Sandpoint and I had to check it out. After the first ass kicking workout left me laying on the floor after 20 minutes, I knew that I had found what I’ve been looking for, and have been loving it ever since.

What was your first impression? Has that changed?

At first I didn’t know what to expect. You hear about crossfit athletes and the “fittest on earth” and that’s kind of intimidating, but I tried it out anyways. Kenny and the rest of the coaches were all very welcoming and knowledgeable, and my original thought of it potentially being intimidating was immediately thrown out.

What was your first success?

My first success at Crossfit Sandpoint would have to be the transition I made from function workouts to performance workouts. I am now a lot more comfortable doing the olympic style lifts and perfecting my form.

What are you working on now?

Right now I am trying to work on my flexibility and range of motion when it comes to my legs and squats. I am also working on getting my first muscle up and I have a feeling that it’s coming very soon.

What’s your favorite CrossFit Sandpoint memory?

My favorite memory would have to be the first night of the Crossfit Open for 2018 when I was able to see the amount of support and camaraderie that we have and all those that came out to watch the first heat and drink beer! That was awesome to see. My second favorite memory was at the end of 18.5 when I finally knew that I was finished with my first Crossfit Open.
