What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
I first came to CrossFit Sandpoint because I needed to shake up my workouts. I knew that signing up at a regular gym wouldn’t motivate me to move!
A good friend of mine had been going to CrossFit for over a year, and I always saw her Facebook posts about “the WOD” or “setting new PR’s”. I had no idea what those things meant, but I was intrigued enough to give it a try for myself.
What was your first impression? Has that changed?
My first impression of CrossFit Sandpoint was kind of skewed as I started during the CrossFit open last year. Those were some serious workouts and while everyone I meet was incredibly friendly and supportive, I really felt in over my head. I took many deep breaths and made it through a few workouts with lots of modifications… and then I was hooked!
What was your first success?
As far as my first success, I think everyday that I walked through the front door was a major success for me. I am very proud of my first 200# deadlift, my first box jump, and most recently my first string of double unders! I still feel pretty new in that I am still setting new personal records every week or month.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I am working on getting more double unders and I really want to do an unassisted pull up.
What’s your favorite CrossFit Sandpoint memory?
I don’t know if I have a specific, favorite CrossFit Sandpoint memory, but I do really enjoy seeing my new-found friends at class every day; and I must say, Bill’s ninja screams always manage to make me laugh and push myself a little harder at the same time. I look forward to participating in the CrossFit open this year and I’m sure that will be very memorable.
